Hey everyone
just a quick note really as I need to get some sleep. It's been a really busy two weeks and I have been working non-stop really, so obviously I cherish the rare moments when I have a night off. Like today. Did housekeeping until 2pm and then had the rest of the day off. Just relaxing, went for a swim as well. It's nice to know you can just go and do that.
31 more days until my vacation with mom. I cannot wait and although the first couple of weeks have gne in a flash it seems like things are going slower and slower right now even though it is busy. But I am so looking forward to that. Just bought myself a massive book about Australia with the road maps, so see what can we do and what can we scrap. Floods are also starting to appear in Victoria now but thankfully do not seem to get to the coastlines so our plan to drive along the Great Ocean Road is still on.
I have had stuff to tell you which I remember during work and then I just forget it. But one thing I wanted to tell you about: As I am in the Outback and people are just travelling through there are not many that are regulars. But there are the people from the station. When I first heard about I did not really know what to do with it, you know a station can be a bus/coach/train/tram station; but now it has been explained to the little foreigner :). A station is a cattle station where they keep, depending on the size of land a few thousand cattle and to keep them all in one place, they have the station boys and girls.
They work as much as I do (just on horseback and motorbikes) and then when they are off they come over for drinks (lots of drinks). They have invited me to go over to the station and have a look. All I can think of and some might agree is what I have seen on TV with "Maclouds daughters", silly I know, and then I have this image of cowboys and camp fires. But when they say they are staying out in the camp (as I have been told) it doesn't mean campfires, sleeping bag and beans for breakfast and dinner. They actually have rooms in a house there, like normal people. So I am intrigued and want to explore the station. We shall see when we get a day off together if I am able to go there. They would pick me up as well which is nice. It makes you look forward to something knowing they will come for drinks and you can have a chat.
There was something else I wanted to tell you about but again I forgot. I should make notes, really....
So until my day off and then I will try and get those pix up as well.
Oh yes, maybe you can help me out. I am struggeling to think of what to do on my birthday in June. It is my big 3-0 and I want to do something special for myself. I have some ideas: travel along the west coast for two to three weeks, going to China (I had a chat with a guy who did a five week trip through China and said it was amazing), going to Taiwan (a friend of mine has her birthday on the same day), going to any beach, get a spa treatment and have a cocktail by the pool. I don't know, any suggestions??? Let me know.
Hallo alle miteinander
nur mal was kurzes fuer zwischendurch weil ich mal ein wenig Schlaf brauche. Es waren zwei wirklich stressige Wochen und ich habe eigentlich ohne Pause gearbeitet, also freue ich mich natuerlich ueber die Tage wo ich mal den Abend frei habe. Wie heute. Habe bis um 14Uhr Zimmer sauber gemacht und hab dann den Rest des Tages frei bekommen. Einfach nur ein wenig erholen und bin ne Runde Schwimmen gegangen. Es ist schoen zu wissen dass man das einfach mal machen kann.
Es sind noch 31 Tage bis zu meinem Urlaub mit Mama :). Ich kanns kaum erwarten und obwohl die ersten paar Wochen wirklich schnell vergangen sind kommt es mir jetzt so vor als ob sich alles hinzieht, obwohl wirklich viel los ist. Habe mir gerade ein supergrosses Buch ueber Autralien gekauft (wolte eigentlich nur nen Strassenatlas aber das kam mit dazu) um zu sehen was wir nun machen koennen und was nicht. Ueberschwemmungen scheinen jetzt auch in Victoria zu sein, aber Gott sei dank nicht dortlang wo wir hin wollen, also ist die Fahrt entlang der Great Ocean Road immer noch im Plan
ich wollte euch eigentlich einige Sachen erzaehlen was mir waehrend meiner Arbeit einfaellt, aber irgendwie vergesse ich alles so schnell wie es mir in den Sinn kommt. Ueber eine Sache will ich euch aber erzaehlen. weil ich ja nun im sogenannten Outback bin und die Leute meist hier nur durchreisen, gitb es nicht viele regulare die herkommen. Aber es gibt die Leute von der sogenannten "Station". Als ich das erset Mal davon gehoert habe, konnte ich nichts damit anfangen, eine Station kann Bus/Zug/Strassenbahn haltestelle sein; aber jetzt wurde es der Auslaenderin endlich mal erklaert. Eine "station" ist eine Rinderfarm wo sie, je nach Groesse der Farm ein paar Tausend Rinder haben. und um das alles an einem Ort zu halten gibt es die Jungs und Maedels von der Farm. Sie arbeiten genauso viel wie ich (wahrscheinlich noch mehr und auf Pferden und Motorraedern) und wenn sie mal frei haben kommen sie zu uns zum trinken (und sie trinken viel). Sie haben mich eingeladen mal zur Station hinzukommen wenn wir alle gemeinsam frei habe, damit ich mir das mal ansehen kann. Denn alles was mir dzu einfaellt, hoert sich auch komisch an, ist was ich im TV gesehen habe bei "MacLouds Toechtern" und dann habe ich noch das Bild vom Cowboy und Feuer. Aber wenn sie sagen sie sind in der Woche ueber im Campp, heisst das nicht zelten, schlafsack und Bohnen zum Fruehstueck und abdnessen, sondern es gibt ein rivhtiges Haus mit allem was man so braucht. Es fasziniert mich halt und ich kann mir das demensional nicht vorstellen, also wuerd ich mir das chon mal gern ansehen. Sie wuerden mich auch abholen, was wirklich nett ist. Da kann man sich auf etwas freuen wenn man weiss die Bande kommt zum trinken und man kann sich unterhalten.
Es gab noch was anderes, aber ich habs mal wieder vergessen. ich sollte mir wirklich Notizen machen...
Also dann bis zu meinem freien Tag am Freitag und dann versuche ich auch die Bilder hochzuladen.
Ach ja, vielleicht koennt ihr mir aushelfen. Ich versuche darueber nachzudenken was ich an meinem Geburtstag im Juni machen will. Es ist mein 30. wie wir wissen und ich moechte mir was schoenes goennen. ich habe ein paar Ideen: An der Westkueste fuer 2-3 Wochen reisen, nach China fliegen (ich hab mich mit jemandem unterhalten der hat fuenf Wochen China gemacht und gesagt es war toll), nach Taiwan fliegen (eine Freundin von mir hat am gleichen Tag Geburtstag), an einen Strand gehen, einen Tag im Spa und verwoehnen lassen mit einem Cocktail am Pool. Ich weiss es nicht, vielleicht habt ihr ein paar Ideen???

Happy New Year - Alles Gute im Neuen Jahr
Hey people
still no pix I know but I cannot upload anything at the moment as the internet is sooooo slow. It'll take forever. but I will be working on it I promise.
I hope you all attended a very good party on New Years Eve and had fun. I was - well - working and watching the fireworks in Sydney on TV - 2 hours prior my actual New Year.
It has been busy and I am working a lot. I know, I wanted to cut down on work, well somehow things never really work out I guess. And before I forget: I am in no danger of the flooding situation, although I did actually think about going to Queensland prior coming here, good thing I changed my mind :). It is kind of weird. We were waiting for rain and only got bits and bobs on a few days and then yesterday it suddenly started and has not stopped since. I promised someone I'd put a boat next to my bed, but it does not really fit. It is flatland so I am not worried. But I am missing my rainjacket that has mysteriously disappeared in Sydney :(. What I am worried is my upcoming vacation with my mom. As the floods have now reached Brisbane I am not sure if we can do the things we wanted to do up there. So we came up with sme contengiency plans just in case and I am still waiting to book everything anyways, so that is fine. If everything fails we'll just do the red centre and then look for a beach somewhere. But I am very much excited about mom coming out here (even if Dad cannot, but he says there's next year ;) ) and cannot wait to be fair (36days counting today!!!). Hence the work, it keeps me busy and helps the time pass.
Most people who come to the roadhouse are simply travelling through and staying here as it is better on the way from Alice Springs to Darwin. We do have our regulars and I know most of them by name now or at least by the drink they have :). The good things is also I do not need to join a gym now as I get plenty of workouts with housekeeping. My now favourite pair of trekking pants (for the English people: trousers) I bought in the US are kind of falling off me, but they are soooooooooo comfortable that I try anything to keep them on. So all is good in Australia and Arite-land. If things get too much I just escape into my happy place ( I miss Gina saying things so much, haha; it's an inside thing.) and I am fine.
So nothing else is new in down under. I did have something else to say but forgot... nevermind it'll com back soon.

Immernoch keine Fotos, ich weiss, aber ich kann im moment keine hochladen weil das Internet so dermassen langsam ist. Es wuerde Ewigkeiten dauern, aber ich verspreche ich arbeite dran.
Ich hoffe ihr habt alle an einer tollen Feier am 31.12. teilgenommen und hattet spass. Ich war - mmmh, also naja- an der Arbeit und hab mir das Feuerwerk in Sydney im Fernsehen angesehen - 2 Stunden vor meinem eigentlichen Neuem Jahr
Es war und ist im Moment ziemlich viel los, also arbeite ich auch viel. Ich weiss, ich wollte eigentlich nicht mehr so viel arbeiten, naja manche Sachen aendern sich eben nicht. Und bevor ich's vergesse: im Bezug zur Flutsituation, bin ich nicht in Gefahr, naja ich hatte eigentlich schon vorgehabt nach Queensland zu gehen bevore ich hergekommen bin. Nur gut dass ich mir das nochmal anders ueberlegt hab....Es ist schon komisch, wir haben hier auf Regen gewartet und haben nur einige kurze Schauer gehabt und dann ploetzlich hat es gestern angefangen und seitdem nicht wieder aufgehoert. Ich habe jemandem versprochen ein Boot nebens Bett zu stellen, aber es passt nicht so wirklich :(. es ist eh Flachland, also hab ich keine Bedenken. Aber mir fehtl meiine Regenjacke die sich in Sydney irgendwie in Luft aufgeloest hat... Was mir aber richtig Sorgen macht im Moment ist der kommende Urlaub mit meiner Mama. Da die Ueberschwemmungen nun auch Brisbane erreicht haben, bin ich mir nicht so sicher, ob wir auch das machen koennen was wir wollten. Also haben wir uns einen oder zwei Plaene C&D einfallen lassen und warten einfach ab. Ich habe eh noch nichts gebucht von daher gehts noch. Sollten alle Stricke reissen, fahren wir einfach ins rote Center und dann suchen wir uns einen Strand :). Ich freue mich echt wahnsinnig auf den Urlaub und dass Mama herkommt, nur Schade das mein Dad nicht kommen kann (wir denken aber naechstes Mal ;) ). Ich kann es kaum erwarten (36Tage mit heute). Demnach auch viel Arbeit weil es mich beschaeftigt und die Zeit schneller vergehen laesst.
Die meisten Leute die herkommen sind auf der Durchreise von Alice Springs nach Darwin. We do have our regulars und ich kenne die meisten vom Namen her oder von dem was sie trinken :). Das Gute ist auch, dass ich nun doch keinem Fitnesstudio beitreten muss, weil ich genug Sport im housekeeping mach, also Zimmer sauber machen. Meine tolle Trekkinghose aus den USA faellt mir mehr oder weniger fast runter, aber ich find sie so toll, dass es mir egal ist wie ich sie anbehalten, haha. Also ist alles paletti in Australien und im Arite-land. Sollte es zu viel werden, reise ich einfach in mein "Gluecksland" (Gina sagt das immer und es fehlt mir echt) und es geht mir gut.
Also was anderes gibt es jetzt nicht hier unten. Ich wollte noch was sagen, aber ich habs schon wieder vergessen.. Egal es wird schon noch mal auftauchen...
