Eraly mornings - Morgenstund hat Gold im Mund

5,30am - 5.30 Uhr morgens

Today we started pretty early after a rather cool night – for once- to see the sunrise at the Uluru. We drove in circles for a bit because we didn’t really know where we were going, but finally got a good view. It’s just amazing, to be able to stand there and look at this rock from all different angles. Pretty awesome! We took a little tour afterwards with a guide to some of the parts as we really did not want to take the walk around the rock, we think we have done a lot of exercise in the past few days and can take a slow day. Besides it was about 36 degrees Celsius again and – no thank you!!! So we drove around and stopped whenever possible. Anyone who knows me knows I cannot go anywhere great without one of my babies (i.e. Camera). And I really cannot choose which picture I like best, I like all of them, the weather was great too, so this was just awesome for me. I could have spent days there.

Then again, the heat and getting up that early finally got to me and I think Mom was pretty exhausted as well.  So we took a tour through the cultural centre in which they tell you about the Anangu people who own the land and the site and their joint management of the Rock with the National Park. Pretty interesting stuff but my head can only take that much!

So we drove back to the camp, shopped a bit, had late lunch and then went for the sunset at Kata Tjuta (also known as Olgas).That was great too also because no-one else was there.  It’s going to be an even earlier start tomorrow as we are going there again for sunrise and then we are off to Coober Pedy. The drive will take most of the day, but if we manage that we gain half a day and then do not have to drive the whole lot to Adelaide to get the ferry to Kangaroo Island on 28^th. Yeah!!! Lets just hope all goes well...

Olgas

Heute haben wir, nach einer –endlich mal –kuehlen Nacht  ziemlich frueh losgelegt um uns den Sonnenaufgang am Uluru anzusehen. Erstmal sind wir in Kreisen gefahren weil wir den perfekten Platz nicht fanden. Es war einfach fantastisch sich das mal live anzusehen von all den verschiedenen Punkten! Einfach toll! Danach haben wir eine kleine Tour mitgemacht wo uns ein Ranger verschiedene Sachen gezeigt und erklaert hat, weil wir nicht den ganzen Uluru umwandern wollten (10km). Wir dachten uns wir hatten genug Sport in den letzten Tagen J und koennen uns mal Zeit lassen. Davon mal abgesehen waren es dann wieder 36Grad – nein Danke!!! Also sind wir danach um den Uluru gefahren und haben wann immer moeglich angehalten. Jeder der mich einigermassen gut kennt, weiss, dass ich sehr gerne sehr viele Photos mache und nicht ohne meine Kinder (Kamera) weggehe. Und ich kann mich wirklich nicht entscheiden welches das beste Photo fuer diesen Entrag ist, weil mir alle gefallen. Das Wetter war auch toll, also war alles Bestens fuer mich. Ich haette dort Tage verbringen koennen.  

Da es aber dann doch ziemlich heiss wurde und wir die Hitze dann ordentlich gespuert habe, ich denke wir waren beide ziemlich fertig. Also sind wir ins Kulturelle Zentrum gefahren und haben uns dort informiert. Sie erzaehlen ueber die Anangu, denen das Land gehoert; wie es ihnen weggenommen wurde und die heutige Zusammenarbeit mit dem Management. Es war wirklich interessant aber irgendwann war mein Kopf voll.

Also sind wir wieder ins Camp gefahren, sind etwas einkaufen gegangen, hatten Mittag und sind dann zum Sonnenuntergang bei Kata Tjuta (auch Olgas genannt) gefahren. Das war auch toll, auch weil niemend sonst da war. Morgen wird es noch ein viel frueherer Tag, weil wir zu den Olgas zum Sonnenaufgang fahren und danach nach Coober Pedy weiterfahren.

Die Fahrt wird den groessten Teil des Tages in Anspruch nehmen, aber wenn alles gut laeuft haben wir einen halben Tag eingespart und muessen dann nicht den ganzen Tag nach Adelaide fahren wo wir am 28. Februar die Faehre nach Kangaroo Island nehmen.   Yippie!!! Lasst uns die Daumen druecken, dass alles glatt laeuft...
