Goolwa - Food & Wine - Essen und Wein

Mom is already back home and I am still in Sydney. Now it is catching up with the past two weeks.

We decided to stay at Victor Harbour for two nights instead of just one and went off the day with taking the old time train to Goolwa as there was a wooden boat festival. The train ride took us along the coast past Port Elliot to Goolwa. It was really nice, the weather was not the greatest but thankfully it did not rain.

In was really busy in Goolwa with lots of boats of course and music and FOOD! We basically spent the day eating and wine tasting. It was great!!! First course was a Mediterranean Seafood Paella from Woodstock. Yummy!!! I saw they had German sausages and thought to give that a try. So we had sausage with Sauerkraut next, it was not that good, but oh well. Then we discovered a stand with Strawberries in all kinds of forms: blended, as icecream, smoothies and with pancakes. Naturally we choose the one that included strawberries, ice cream AND pancakes – so delicious!!! To finish the day we listened to a band that played the ukulele with songs from the 60’s. What a day!

Even though it was cloudy all day I did get sunburned on my nose. We took a little walk through all the stands and stopped at the wine tasting stand. The Fleurieu Peninsula boasts of wineries, so how could we refuse to have a taste? Well we ended up with buying two bottles for our travels and then went back to Victor Harbour. It was nice not to have to pack up for the next day, so we did not have to do so much with setting up the bed and all.

 Mama ist schon wieder zu Hause und ich bin noch in Sydney. Jetzt heisst es erstmal die letzten zwei wochen aufzuholen.

Wir entschieden uns in Victor Harbour zwei Naechste zu bleiben anstatt einer und sind heute nach Goolwa mit demm alten Zug gefahren, weil es dort ein Holz Boot festival gab. Die Zugfahrt fuehrte  uns an der Kueste entlang ueber Port Elliot nach Goolwa. Es war wirklich schoen, vom wetter mal abgesehen, aber Gott sei Dank hat es nicht geregnet.  

In Goolwa war echt viel los mit vielen Booten und Musik und ESSEN! Wir haben praktisch denn Tag mit Essen und Weinverkostunng verbracht. Es war toll!!! Der erste Gang war Mediterane Paella von Woodstock. Lecker!!!!  Dann hab ich gesehen, dass es “deutsche” Rostwurst gab und dachte mir, dass ich das mal probieren muss. Also gab es „Rostwurst“ (es waren eher Wiener) und Sauerkraut (kalt); es war nicht soo toll, aber ging. Danach haben wir einen Erdbeerenstrand entdeckt bei dem es Erdbeeren in allen Formen gab: Als Eis, kleingemacht, Smoothies und mit Pfannnkuchen. Natuerlich haben wir das genommen was Eis, erdbeeren UND Pfannkuchen enthielt – es war so koestlich! Um den Tag zu beenden haben wir un seine Ukulele Band angehoert, die Musik aus den 60ern gespielt haben. Ein schoener Tag!!!  

Und obwohl es wolkig war hab ich mir die Nase verbrannt. Wir haben uns noch einen kleinen Spaziergang gegoennt durch die Staende und hielten dann an der Weinverkostung an. Die Fleurieu Peninsula hat viele Winzereien, wie konnten wir darauf verzichten? Naja, wir haben dann am Ende zwei Flaschen gekauft fuer unsere Reise und sind dann wieder zurueck nach Victor Harbour gefahren.  Es war auch mal schoen, dass wir nicht am naechsten Tag wegfahren mussten, so brauchten wir nichts ab- bzw. aufbauen.
