We had the day to explore Coral Bay and the Ningaloo Reef as well, so some of us went snorkelling with Manta Rays and others took the glass bottom boat to see the reef. I chose to do the snorkelling. The ship was in contact with an airplane that was looking out for Mantas. So lots of time it was waiting. It was very windy on the reef and after a short introduction we got our wet suits and snorkelling gear and off we went. It was so cold in the water because it was so windy. Everyone was a bit cold. 
It was great to see the marine life but because of the waves I felt a bit sick after the first round of snorkelling. I was able to manage to go snorkelling twice, but then I felt so sick that I had to stay on the boat. After lunch most went out again to do some snorkelling. It was great to see the Manta Rays even if they were not that big, it was rather fascinating. 
Cornelia had an incident she will not forget: she met a reef shark. Well we all assume that the shark was checking out what the thing in the water was. But it was kind of dangerous as well because it could have been an attack as well. I only saw the black dot that darted forward into the group and then Cornelia screamed. After she came out, we saw that the shark literally drove into her upper thigh. It was bruised and she now has a 20cm long reminder of her shark. At the moment it is starting to go green, but it looks really bad.
In the afternoon we started driving towards Exmouth because it was not really far. The hostel we had there was really good as we stayed in small houses. This was the first time we actually stayed two nights in the same day, which was great, we did not have to pack!!!
Heute hatten wir den Tag fuer uns um Coral Bay und das Ningaloo Riff zu erkunden. Einige von uns sind schnorcheln mit Mantas gegangen waehrend der Rest das Glass Boot genommen haben. Ich entschied mich fuers schnorcheln. Das Boot auf dem wir waren war in Kontakt mit einem kleinen Flugzeug, welches sich nach Mantas umsah. Also haben wir auch viel gewartet. Es war sehr windig auf dem Riff und nach einer kurzen Erlaeuterung haben wir unsere Schwimmanzuege angezogen und unsere schnorchelausruestung genommen und los gings. Da das Wasser etwas kalt war waren wir auch alle ein wenig kalt. 
Es war toll das Unterwasserleben zu sehen, aber weil es eben windig war waren die Wellen auch ziemlich stark und nach einer Weile bin ich doch etwas seekrank geworden. Nach dem ersten Trip konnte ich meinen Magen auf dem Schiff etwas beruhigen und bin dann noachmal reingegangen, aber danach gings mir irgendwie noch schlechter als vorher und musste den Rest auf dem Schiff verbringen. Nach dem Mittagessen auf dem Boot sind dann die mesiten nocheinmal raus. Es war toll die Mantas zu sehen, es waren zwar nicht sehr grosse, aber trotsdem war es faszinierend. 
Cornelia hatte einen kleinen Zusammenstoss den sie so schnell nicht vergessen wird: mit einem Hai. Naja, wir nehmen alle an, dass der Riff Hai einfach nur rausfinden wollte was im Wasser so rumschwimmt. Aber es war auch etwas gefaehrlich, weil er sie auch richtig haette attackieren koennen. Ich habe vom Boot aus nur einen schwarzen Punkt gesehen der schnell auf die Gruppe zuschwamm und dann hatte Cornelia einen Schrei losgelassen. Nachdem sie dann rauskam, haben wir gesehen, dass der Hai richtig doll in ihren Oberschenkel gestossen hatte. Es hatte sich schon nach kurzer Zeit gefaerbt und sie hatte die naechsten Tage einen riesengrossen Bluterguss, der ca. 20 cm lang war. Es faerbt sich zwar schon gruen und gelb, sieh aber dennoch ziemlich boese aus.
Am Nachmittag sind wir dann Richtung Exmouth gefahren was wirklich nur anderthalb Stunden Fahrt war. Die Jugendherberge war richtig toll weil wir in kleinen Haeuschen uebernachtet haben. Es ist das erste Mal gewesen, dass wir zwei Naechte am gleichen Ort waren, und das hiess auch wir mussten nicht packen!!!
